TidyTabs Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 1, 2026.

TidyTabs is a Chrome extension that manages your open tabs: it closes duplicates, closes idle tabs past a limit you set, caps tabs per window by parking overflow into a restorable list, and protects pages you mark as kept.

What TidyTabs collects

Nothing. TidyTabs has no account system, no server, and no analytics. It never transmits your browsing data anywhere.

What TidyTabs stores, locally

To do its job, TidyTabs keeps working data in your browser's local extension storage on your device only:

your settings
the parked, kept, and closed-tab lists (page addresses and titles of tabs it manages for you)
tab activity timestamps used to measure idleness

This data never leaves your browser. Deleting the extension deletes it.

Permissions

tabs: read tab addresses and titles to detect duplicates, measure idleness, and manage windows; processed locally only
storage: keep the settings and lists above on your device
alarms: run the once-a-minute idle check while auto-close is enabled
contextMenus: add the right-click actions
favicon: show site icons in the popup from Chrome's local favicon cache

Icons

Site icons shown in the popup load from Chrome's local favicon cache, or from the site's own icon address as reported by the tab. No icon request identifies you to us; we run no servers.

Changes

If TidyTabs's data practices ever change, this policy will be updated before the change ships, and the extension's store listing will disclose it.
